What the World Wants to Know From Capitol Hill

Summary: A new time has come, and the world is really interested in knowing, what the American democracy means  in realistic terms. The rest of the article details the inquisition of the World.

After the World War II, the world believed the Americans, and followed their beacon of Liberty, Freedom and Justice. The American triumph, did not come easy, but came from destruction of the "World Views", of the early 19th Century.

The Americans considered their Constitution as a wonderful blue marble, which they inherited from their forefathers. What made America Great (in part) was due to the fact that the American Constitution was written, not just for a  particular race, or a particular religion, but for all those who believed and followed the ideals of democracy.

If today's American leaders were truly standing on the strong foundation, laid out by their forefathers, then -

  1. Why they had to hide beneath desks and in closets, when a young (unarmed) woman approached them
    on 06 Jan 2021?

  2. The young (unarmed) woman could have breached a fence or a door; would that elicit a death sentence?

  3. The label "Terrorist" could be applied to people outside the fence, or people inside the fence.
If the leaders were to label the people outside the fence as terrorists, then what remains of democracy?

The leaders could recollect the definition of democracy as: "... of the people, by the people, for the people" and not "... of the terrorists, and for the terrorists".

The feelings of people all over the world, and their belief in the much touted "American democracy" were shattered, for the following reasons.

  1. The World did not find a single brave man or woman in the whole "House of American Senate", who had the courage to step forward, and receive the intruder as a guest, and receive her petition, and reassure her, that the house would abide, by the American Constitution.

  2. The world believes that a "House of Senate or Parliament", in a democracy, has a moral obligation, to serve the people of the country.

  3. Protest (or public demonstration) is a fundamental right in a democracy, when what is protested for, is engraved in the constitution. It is very frustrating to note that the leaders of the "House of American Senate", did not pay any attention to the American Constitution.

What the World wants to know from Capitol Hill is -
"What is the latest and greatest definition of American Democracy?"

Of course, the whole episode of 06 Jan 2021, belongs to USA, and USA alone; but its effects and implications, are  bound to reverberate, all through the World.

USA may successfully subdue protests on its land (by force), but as said earlier, the American triumph, did not come easy, but came from destruction of the "World Views", of the early 19th Century. In essence, the American loss or failure, is now shared or borne by the entire World.

In the end, the world at large may hope that "Necessity, the mother of all inventions", could help the world create  new stronger "World Views".
